Don't read the blurb or this review if you haven't read the first 4 parts in this series and are intending to do so, there are some massive spoilers included in it, which I couldn't prevent using.

The demon Lilith has been destroyed and Jace has been freed from her captivity. But when the Shadowhunters arrive to rescue him, they find only blood and broken glass. Not only is the boy Clary loves missing–but so is the boy she hates, Sebastian, the son of her father Valentine: a son determined to succeed where their father failed, and bring the Shadowhunters to their knees.


No magic the Clave can summon can locate either boy, but Jace cannot stay away—not from Clary. When they meet again Clary discovers the horror Lilith’s dying magic has wrought—Jace is no longer the boy she loved. He and Sebastian are now bound to each other, and Jace has become what he most feared: a true servant of Valentine’s evil. The Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. Will the Shadowhunters hesitate to kill one of their own?


Only a small band of Clary and Jace’s friends and family believe that Jace can still be saved — and that the fate of the Shadowhunters’ future may hinge on that salvation. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she even still trust him? Or is he truly lost? What price is too high to pay, even for love?

When I recieved this book I immediately started reading it, and I didn't put it down. At all. This book is dangerous for you! You will not eat, sleep or talk to anyone for as long as it takes you to finish it! Don't start reading it the night before finals. You'll fail! 


Clare has done it again! A whole new shadowhunter book, and some new massive turning points in the plot that kept on surprising me. How on earth can she think of this?! I try to explain TMI to my friends sometimes, but they don't get it. There are so many crazy things happening. I'm like: 'So there is this girl, and she is a shadowhunter. Then her mother is abducted by some evil guy who turns out to be her father. Then she meets this gorgeous boy, and she falls in love, and then he turns out to be her brother. Then there is this other boy she kisses. The first boy she loved isn't her brother after all, the second boy ís. He turns out to be evil, like her father. Then there is the best friend, who becomes a powerful vampire. And he is friends with some werewolf girl. Meanwhile, they save the world from demons a couple of times, meets some very strange people, gets some special powers, ... . Then they free her mother. The mother marries her best friend, who is a shadowhunter / werewolf. Then the boyfriend of the girl dies and is resurrected by the angel. But he is bound to the evil brother, who also died. They both live. -end of part 4 -" and they're like DAFUQ did you just say?!


Sometimes it annoys me that Clare's books are so crazy, sick. This is the 7th shadowhunter, and the idea is getting older and older. I love shadowhunters, don't get me wrong, but 7 books and 2 more that are coming soon is a little bit overdone.


The characters show development. Some just a little, some changed 100%. My feelings about certain characters definitely changed while I was reading this book! Some of them were acting enormously selfish 'in the name of love'. Give up your life for your lover's life is stupid. I mean, when you die either (s)he becomes extremely depressed and wishes (s)he had died, or (s)he doesn't give a  sh*t and just goes on with his/her life, so (s)he wasn't worth dying for. 


The thing with all the dramatic romance is the thing that really freaks me out about this book. Yeah, love exists, we know that. But seriously, it seems as if no-one can be single. Almost every possible combination of 2 has been used in one of the 5 books in this series. And the worst thing is, you read more bad than good things about their relationships. 


CoLS is told from multiple points of view, but still is very easy to read. I read it in a couple of hours only, which is pretty quick for me. Next book I so hope I can read parts from Magnus's point of view! He is like, the most awesome character of this whole series! Team Magnus <3


This book has got everything a TMI fan looks for, but it isn't the best part in the series. It is awesome, crazy and depressing and heartwarming at the same time. Yay for Magnus!

note: I read this book as soon as I could get hold of it. My parents did not let me buy it, because I already bought lots of books this month (stupid people...) I have been wanting to read this book since I finished Clockwork Angel (TID #1) and I am surely NOT disappointed!!


the book:
Where part one ends, this book starts. The same people, same things they do, same villains and the same everything. Tessa and the other people at the institute have to find Mortmain, the villain of book one. If they don't, Benedict Lightwood will take over the institute. They start looking for him, but are clueless, how on earth can they find him?! There still is Tessa, who is madly in love with Will, but thinks he hates her. That is because Will told her so. But actually Will is in love with her. He loves her more than she loves him. But he cannot tell her, because if he did so, she would die. That is because of a curse that was put on him when he was twelve years old. Will is looking for the demon together with the warlock of London, Magnus Bane. And of course there also still is Jem. He is still dying because of his addiction, and is still in love with Tessa, too. He is having a hard time holding on to life. What will this result in...?


my opinion:
Everyone; and by that I mean EVERYONE, should read this book! here are some of the reasons:


1) the characters; There are 3 main characters: Tessa, James (Jem) and William (Will). Tessa is this very polite English-like girl. She is the perfect one. Then there is Jem, who is an addict. He is dying, and everything he has gone through is horrible. He does not have lots of time left to live. And, last but defenitely not least there is Will. He is the ultimate bad boy, because he wants people to hate him. But in this book you get to know the soft side of him. (DSBS!) And you will surely fall in love with him!


2) the time; This book takes place in the victorian time. This time is very fascinating to most people. It was the time of beautiful dresses, masquerades and true gentlemen. It is the dream of most girls to live in this time. It seems so very perfect and romantic, like Pride and Predjudice.


3) the shadowhunters; Who does not want to read a shadowhunter book?! The shadowhunters have a dangerous but very exiting life. They have this very cool 'religion' with the angel. Also, I love the shadowhunter soceity. How they life like normal people, but actually are demon killers


4) the demons; I love demons. I want to create my own, as a pet! And who doesn't? Seriously, I keep on looking at the descriptions of the demons. I even have tried do draw them. (but all of my drawings are failed attempts which will never be showed to anyone... I suck at drawing...) 


5) the love triangle; I am most surely not a fan of love triangles. But this one is just perfect. Cassandra Clare made me love Will in part one, so yes, I am team Will. But she really made me love Jem, too, in part two. It feels like I am inside the love triangle myself, and that is what's so good about this book! You feel so alike to the characters and their thougts. You can almost touch the shadowhunter world... love it!


I could think of hundreds of more points to add to this list, but I think there is only one important thing I want to say:


Go read this book now! 


This was my favourite book of 2011! And I have read lots of books this year... 


So that's why my rating is:
5/5 (omigod Mar, what a surprise...)


If you could read only one book in 2012, it should be this one

Release post - Clockwork prince by Cassandra Clare

Today, December 6th, is a special day
It's the release day of CLOCKWORK PRINCE!!
I have not yet bought the book, because my parents did not allow me to --' Why don't they get that I love all Cassandra Clare books?!?!?!?


The first chapter of Clockwork Prince was available in the form of audiobook on goodreads, so yesterday night (and with night I mean after 2AM, which is very late, even for me...) and I did not fall asleep of the boring voice. I listened to the whole chapter, which durated for 39 minutes and 8 seconds (!) 


The chapter starts with Jem and Tessa visiting Westminster Abbey. and poets' corner (you know, the place where they were all buried) Later Will ( <3 ) shows up and they use a hidden room to move to the enclave meeting (awesomeness) 
You get to know about the Consul, with a strange voice xD He seems kinda scary-like. They are asking questions to Tessa and Charlotte. There is nothing really 'new' said. 
Charlotte gets an argument with the Consul, about ruling the sanctuary. That's where the chapter ends


This left me longing even more for the book!!! And I tought it was impossible to long for it more O.o

**NB The release date for Clockwork Prince is, as Amazon says, December 6. It was originally slated for end of September, but I was in an accident last year, smashed two ribs and injured my wrist, and couldn't write for a few weeks. You'd think a slip of a few weeks wouldn't matter and in most cases it wouldn't but the deadlines on these books are so incredibly tight, since they're producing them so incredibly fast (I know it doesn't seem like it, but they are; I'm not taking less time to write them, so they're literally crushing all their production dates) that missing one date snowballs: they had to scramble to find a new date, and the earliest was December. Again, it's a production issue — for instance publishers "reserve" printers ahead of time so that they can get their books actually printed on paper; lose your spot in line and you have to take the next available. As long as books are physical objects we actually hold in our hands, this kind of thing can happen. I am sorry about it — really sorry — but there's nothing that can change it at this point. So below is a list of the titles of the chapters in Clockwork Prince. This is in the mold of the post I made about the chapter titles of CoFA, back in February 2010. The chapters, the titles of them, the source of the title if it's from a poem, and even a few lines and spoilers. Since I'm away most of June, this will be the June Clockwork Prince teaser!

Chapter One: The Council Chamber

Pretty literal — the Council meets to discuss whether Charlotte is fit to run the Institute; we see a bit more of the Lightwoods, not to mention the Waylands and some other familiar families.

Chapter Two: Reparations

“Mr. Bane has been awaiting your arrival, sir,” said the footman, and stepped aside to let Will enter.

Chapter Three: Unjustifiable Death

The term, under the Accords, for a Shadowhunter killing a Downworlder without provocation.

"This was the first time she had been alone with Will in weeks."

Chapter Four: A Journey

Tessa, Will and Jem leave the Institute and in fact, London entirely.

"Gabriel Lightwood strode across the room to meet them. He really was quite tall, Tessa thought, craning her neck to look up at him. As a tall girl herself, she didn’t often find herself bending her head back to look up at men."

Chapter Five: Shades of the Past

This one is a pun that will probably only make sense upon actual reading. Althpugh one of the themes of the book is how the past affects the present.

Chapter Six: In Silence Sealed

Again the theme is hidden secrets. The title comes from a Charlotte Bronte poem. "In secret kept, in silence sealed." Tessa begins to uncover the secrets of her own origins.

Chapter Seven: I had to redact the title of this chapter. It's a spoiler. :)

“When Will truly wants something,” said Jem, quietly, “when he feels something — he can break your heart.”

Chapter Eight: The Purposes of Wrath

The title here comes from Thomas de Quncey's (yes de Quincey!) Confessions of an English Opium-Eater. The paragraph is about addiction, and both the pleasures and the pains of opium, and the chapter is not dissimilar. Also, we meet Ragnor Fell.

Chapter Nine: Fierce Midnight

This chapter ends the night begun in the previous chapter. And has some pretty hot kissing. Titled after a Swinburne poem.

Chapter Ten: The Virtue of Angels

The virtue of angels is that they cannot deteriorate; their flaw is that they cannot improve. Man's flaw is that he can deteriorate; and his virtue is that he can improve. —The Talmud

Someone rather unexpected hits Gabriel — who, really, was asking for it.

Chapter Eleven: Wild Unrest

This chapter title comes from the poem "City of Dreadful Night" by James Thompson. It's really about taking on the suffering of someone you love. Will wanders about London at night. "He had reached Fleet Street. Temple Bar was visible through the mist in the distance" — Temple Bar is the structure Jem is standing in front of, on the cover of the book.

Chapter Twelve: The Ball

This is somewhat self-explanatory. There is a masquerade ball. And a balcony. And Magnus.

Chapter Thirteen: The Mortal Sword

We finally see the Mortal Sword put to its actual use: extracting the truth from reluctant Shadowhunters. And it is not pretty.

Chapter Fourteen: The Silent City

“Ah,” said a voice from the doorway, “having your annual ‘everyone thinks Will is a lunatic’ meeting, are you?”

Chapter Fifteen: Thousands More

From a poem by Charlotte Mew: There are thousands more; you do not miss a rose.

"Will has always been the brighter burning star, the one to catch attention — but Jem is a steady flame, unwavering and honest. He could make you happy.”

Chapter Sixteen: Mortal Rage

In which there are automatons and vengeance and explosions. The title comes from Shakespeare: "And brass eternal slave to mortal rage."

Chapter Seventeen: In Dreams

There is the famous "in dreams begin responsibilities" but this title is actually from a poem by Matthew Arnold. The chapter from which this deleted scene was taken:

Chapter Eighteen: Until I Die:

This chapter title has really freaked people out. So I will be nice and say that it is from a poem by Christopher Brennan (no relation to Sarah Rees)

Then seek not, sweet, the "If" and "Why"

I love you now until I die.

Chapter Nineteen: If Treason Doth Prosper

Betrayals and misunderstandings come thick and fast. And Magnus may have a new boyfriend. The title is from a poem attributed to Sir John Harrington:

"Treason doth never prosper: what's the reason?
Why if it prosper, none dare call it treason."

Chapter Twenty: The Last Dream

This is the chapter that made me cry! I rarely cry so I felt good about that. The chapter title comes from A Tale of Two Cities.

Chapter Twenty-One: Coals of Fire:

I guess if you're paying a lot of attention you'll recognize this as part of something Jace quotes in City of Fallen Angels. Endings, beginnings, new characters, and, I promise, not too bad of a cliffhanger.

He flinched away from her, and Tessa dropped her hand, hurt. “Jem, what it is it? You don’t want me to touch you?”

“Not like that,” he flared, and then flushed even darker than before. 

“Like what?” She was honestly bewildered; this was behavior she might have expected from Will, but not from Jem: this mysteriousness, this anger.

“As if you were a nurse and I were your patient. You think because I am ill I am not like —” He drew a ragged breath. “Do you think I do not know,” he went on more quietly, “that when you take my hand, it is only so that you can feel my pulse? Do you think I do not know that when you look into my eyes it is only to see examine my pupils, to see how much of the drug I have taken? If I were another man, a normal man, I might have hopes, presumptions even; I might -—” His words seemed to catch; either because he realized he had said too much or because he had run out of breath.

She shook her head, feeling her plaits tickle her neck. “This is the fever speaking, not you.”

His eyes darkened, and he began to turn away from her. “You can’t even believe I could want you,” he said in a half-whisper. “That I am alive enough, healthy enough —”

“No.” Without thinking, she caught at his arm. He stiffened. “James, that's not at all what I meant —”

He curled his fingers around her hand, where it lay on his arm. His own scorched her skin, hot as fire. And then he turned her, and drew her toward him. 

They stood face to face, chest to chest. His breath stirred her hair. She felt the fever rising off him like mist off the Thames; sensed the pounding of the blood through his skin, saw with a strange clarity the pulse at his neck, the light on the pale curls of his hair where it lay against his paler throat. Prickles of heat ran up and down her skin, bewildering her. This was Jem — her friend, steady and reliable as a heartbeat. Jem did not set her skin on fire or make the blood rush fast inside her veins until she was dizzy.

“Tessa,” he said. She looked up at him. There was nothing steady or reliable about his expression. His silver eyes were dark, his cheeks flushed. As she raised her face, he brought his down, his mouth slanting across hers, and even as she froze in surprise they were kissing.

I have read my first Cassandra Clare novel in may 2011, when I could read it... So you may say that I am a 'new' fan, but I have read all her books already three times since may ;) 

I have been following her on twitter since, reading all of her tweets (stupid fact)

and I have read city of bones in 3 languages (!) (english, dutch, german)

and I do not even speak German well... (again, stupid fact...)

This book is about Ethan. He is just a normal boy from a normal village in America, the kind of village you are born in and you die in. The kind of village you never leave, and the kind of village where everyone knows everyone and new people aren't tolerated. And that is what happens when a new girl, Lena, moves to the village. She is different, different from everyone living in the village. She is goth, and wears a strange necklace. But Ethan does not think of her as a stranger, he feels like he knows her, he has had dreams of her, and he is almost certain that she knows, too. Later he finds out she knows. He also finds out she is a Caster, a kind of Witch. She will be claimed on her 16th birthday, when her fate will be chosen for her. good or bad, Reece or Ridley. And, most important, love Ethan or forget about him? They search for a way to stop the curse, and find a locket that gives them visions about a past in which their ancestors lived. (totally the vampire diaries...) Meanwhile the villagers will start to hate Lena even more, and their fear for her uncle, Macon Ravenwood, will stay the same. That's because he never leaves house, and only rumours are what they know about him. And some people may not be what they always seemed to be. Lena and Ethan go through lots of stuff, while her birthday is still approaching...

my opinion:
this was totally amazing, I read the whole book, 568 pages or something, in 2 days, which is even for me very fast, since english is not my origin language. I like that the book is written by 2 women, but the main character is male, but they still made him interesting, and a good character. Maybe even one of the best characters I've lately been reading about. That's why I immediately after posting this message will start reading #2 of the series, Beautiful Darkness!
Also I love the topic of this book, history coming to the present, people not being who they seem to be, witches and, most of all, the part about fate.
Tough I love Ethan, I think the best character of the book is Lena Duchannes, which is strange because she is not the one you can read the toughts of. She seems very interesting, loving to read and a wannabe writer. I want to be like her, and have a room which 'wrote itself' that would be totally amazing!

So that's why this book will get a 9.2 out of 10!

The book is about Charlotte, a girl who is a nobody, and who wants to be a somebody at high school. She wants to have her midnight kiss at the school party. She wants to be bff''s with the most popular girl, but she never will, she dies.
but does life really end when you die? What if you haven't completed the one thing you really had to do. In that case, you go to the ghostschool, where you can still see people, but people can't see you. You have to stay there until you complete your final task. Charlotte meets new people at the ghostschool, but she does not want to let go her old, stupid, high-school life and all her classmates will start to hate her. Charlotte finds out that there is one human that can see her, Scarlett, the gothic sister of the most popular girl in school, the exact opposite of Charlotte. She and Charlotte can swap bodies, and they do. But both of them love the same boy, and that is a problem...
In the end everything will get right, and she can let go life

my opinion on this book:
this is a very very very very very very ... ... (it goes on for a long time) bad book!!! The main character is one of the worst I have ever read about, the story sucks, and all of it is predictable. And come on, she dies because she chokes on a GUMMY BEAR O.o (jeez, gummy bears really are dangerous)
She is a nobody that will never become a somebody. She is not even good at trying to be a somebody! She could just accept herself and be who she wanted to be, who she was, but no, she wanted to be popular so badly she died for it.

I will rate this book:

The book is Young Adult and Fantasy
If you love twilight you will love this book!! 

The book is about Luce, a character I do not really like... (okay, I hate her.)
She meets this boy, Daniel, and he starts by giving her the finger and stuff. And what does Luce do? She falls in love with him (totally obvious)
But he does not show any interest in her. she starts stalking him (seriously, stalking? creepy...)

Luce find out about her past, and that is were the book gets interesting. She finds out Daniel is an angel (a fallen angel) and that they were cursed to be together for eternity.
That doesn't seem very bad, but it gets worse... Every time they kiss, Luce will immediately catch fire and die. 17 years later she returns, she finds Daniel again, kisses him again and dies. and that for over 1000 years. He still is in love with her, and in this life they can kiss. They find out that if Luce gets killed this time, she will not return again. Some people attemt to kill her, but they don't succeed.
The book ends with a battle between good and evil, ending without a winner

I do like the book, but it will never be my favourite book. thats why I rate it 3 stars
